EQV Advisory is a boutique advisory firm focused on providing its clients with strategic insights and advice at the intersection of national security and geo-economics, particularly with respect to foreign direct investment.

EQV Advisory draws its name from the Latin phrase esse quam videri – “to be rather than to seem.” EQV’s mission is to ensure our clients are ready—rather than seem ready—for potential government interest and scrutiny of their foreign investors, current and anticipated. Furthermore, the strategic insights and advice EQV provides is particularly unique because it comes from professionals who have spent the entirety of their careers working at this nexus, whether in the government or the private sector.

The Honorable Shannon Corless is a former career intelligence officer whose twenty-plus years of service culminated in the Presidential nomination and Senate confirmation as the Department of the Treasury’s Assistant Secretary for the Office of Intelligence and Analysis. In this role, she advised the White House, the Secretary of the Treasury, the Director of National Intelligence, and private sector C-Suite officers on matters relating to economic security and financial intelligence, as well as cybersecurity of critical financial infrastructure.

In her over two decades of service in the intelligence community, Ms. Corless served in a variety of senior executive and analytic roles - all at the intersection of national security and economics, and with unique expertise in assessing foreign investment risk. Ms. Corless directed and oversaw the development of the analytic methodologies the IC uses to assess national security risk arising from foreign investment, and she helped architect the modern CFIUS framework and led efforts to update the legislation.

Ms. Corless is known as a visionary intelligence professional who built diverse stakeholder partnerships to drive and resource transformative change for the IC’s economic security and financial intelligence responsibilities. She is a recipient of the Meritorious Presidential Rank Award and the Treasury Medal.
